All the To-Do's to Get Ahead in August

Summer is glorious. Sure, it can be a little hot (hellooooooo 100 degree days in Denver), but there's something so nice about the potential that summer brings.

If you work in almost any traditional niche, summer - and particularly August - are slow months. Of course, most people aren’t traveling right now, but it’s still just a slower traditional work month.

If you have a client from Italy, you won't hear from them for half the summer at least. (Get on board, America, please.)

If you're in a good position with your work, great. Kick back with that margarita (with salt on the rim if you're a sissy like me) and pick back up in September.

However, if you want to get ahead, this is the perfect month to do so and put yourself in a better position.

August always is one of my favorite months. I don't have kids, but the back-to-school ads just give me the extra motivation to get organized and color code ALL. THE. THINGS.

If you want to jump ahead this month, there are a few things you can do.

1. Fix up your offerings and packages

Do you currently love your offers to your clients? Have you fallen out of love with your current offerings? Do you want to switch it up entirely and offer something new?

This is the time to go into your business and come up with your new offerings. You can test it this month by asking current/past clients and customers if they would have an interest in your new idea. I would always recommend doing that before actually putting the offer into the world

2. Outline your plan for holiday sales

We’re quite far from the end of the year, but for a lot of businesses, they’re starting to map out their plans for the rest of the year. Now is the time to map out holiday sales, campaigns you want to use, and anything else that will set you up well for the end of the year so you can start next year fresh.

People LOVE to shop during the holiday season. It’s an ideal time to take advantage of this fact and give your business a boost.

3. Try something new

Was there an idea you wanted to try this year? A new social media platform to experiment with? Start uploading videos to YouTube? Publishing blogs on YouTube? Selling on Instagram stories?

No matter what it is, this can be a perfect time to experiment with your new idea to see if it will work for your business.

4. Set up a funnel and automate your company

When you have downtime, that’s the best time to start to automate things you don’t enjoy.

This is the time to start writing email autoresponders, task managers that automate things, start hiring out help that you need, setting up new email funnels…

Automation can save you a TON of time throughout the rest of the year and make you extra money, so spending the time to do this will give you some of the biggest ROI.

What do you want to try to spice it up in your business this month? Or do you just plan to chill this month? There’s no wrong answers here, work-life balance is essential on this site.
